She does not seem to be de-programmed. She's definately still mentally "in" to quite an extent, just living out her rebellious years, making money, getting famous. Maybe if she gives enough to the FDS she can come back happily.

Who here has just let the JW stuff go?. I NEED HELP GUYS!!!!!!!.................
by oompa in....i am so frikkin obsessed about the jw lies and my newfound truths about them, and it is prob driving me crazy or causing depression.....if i wake up in the middle of the night, i never get back to sleep as my mind starts racing about jw crap and how it affects my marriage, and then how can i make this marriage work with her such a hardcore dub....i told my wife i now realize i am an abusive husband.....i must stop talking to her about the real truth!!
!..........it is killing her inside and we have had soooo many bad discussions that turn into arguments......on top of that she says she is now closer to jah and the org than at any other time in her life, that now that she has no positive direction from me, she relies totally on jehovah and prays to him more than ever..... we talked about separation, and that i was going to lose her over our religious differences........i feel so sorry for what i have put her through, and i know that if i can not really shut up with my ohsohelpful comments of truths about this truth she will leave me due to "spiritual endangerment".......and she said she is damm close to that happening.....i told her i knew it to and would so hate to lose her due to our religious differences.
at my recent shepherding call, they said to try and stop focusing on the negatives i have found in jw, and focus on the good things...and that is not a bad idea even if i never go back to meetings....there are good things about dubs....the efforts at ending racism and at least for me, some really good lifelong friends.......even their hope for the future was pretty good to me, even though it is a bunch of crap and i no longer believe the bible is gods word or inspired.....it does have some good suggestions for a happy life and ideas as to how to treat others........but so do just about every holy book of other faiths........ i had plans to start going to some meetings with my wife, but today, after a sleepless night i told her i just dont think i can do it, and just as she strongly believes it is the truth, i do not, and that i think the guys on the gb are not led by holy spirit cause if she will read the proclaimers book, she will see we have never gotten a single bible inerpretation of prophecy correct.......so she says "so what is there?

If its not the way. Which way is?
by maryacclaim ini read a lot of the topics and subjects in this forum, and can't help but to ask, if the witnesses ideas are not the way, then which way is?.
i was a witness for over 25 years and have been out of the organization for over 3 years now.
yet, i have a hard time seeing anyone else's way as the right way to go.

Mary,
Welcome. I have some of the same instincts to answer your question as others did... I know that feeling when i first left of "where do you go"? which i'm sure you now know is an incorrect quote.... But.. if it makes you feel better.. this is the one thing i found. I'm NOT a member, but I always thought, if i did feel the need, i would look them up.
These are the people that actually FOLLOWED what Russell taught. What the witnesses are today is just the small amout of people that didn't leave when Rutherford came along and changed all the rules. The people that still follow Russell seem to believe everything ie. paridise earth, no trinity, no war... etc. all the basics without all the dogma and rituals and hardcore ass crap that Rutherford so loved. They actually LOVE for you to question the faith! CRAZY!!
Anyway.. i would first do one thing, go to wikipedia and research russell all you can, then read everything about rutherford, then you'll see the different dinamics and how it all changed... here's the link to russell first... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Taze_Russell then read rutherford.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Franklin_Rutherford THEN go to the Bible Students... YES, they still have the name that "we had".. actually, then you realize, they TOOK the name and Rutherford had to come up with something else to call his religion. Here they are.... http://www.biblestudents.com/ they have a few websites, since they're not SO into one big headquarters... http://biblestudents.net/
Anyway... researching all that made me feel like wow.. there ARE other places that believe the "good stuff" i felt. Made me feel better, I havn't gone there or done anything, i just needed to know it existed at that point in my healing. Hope this helps. Hope i dont have to take too much slack for showing you this!

Is DISFELLOWSHIPPING being phased out?
by african GB Member ini have an elder friend who is 'open-minded', so to say...he tells me what gets discussed at elder meetings, even though he does'nt give too much detail.. he says that they were instructed by the society not to hurry df'ing publishers, that they should try to reproof (1 timothy 3: 16,17) a sinner,,..that they should be a little considerate bearingf in mind that we are living in critical times of the end.. .
personally i know a few publishers(baptized or not) who now have children out of wedlock, and they were just "marked" or had privileges taken away..... the reason given is: "they realised that they have sinned, and they are fully repented, they gave enough evidence to jc that they want to be known as jw's".
now my question is : are they slowly doing away with the df'ing doctrine?.

I wonder if the Witnesses got rid of disfellowshipping if the ex-JW community would disintegrate. It seems to be what keeps many former Witnesses together in a certain sense - the common experience, the shared sense of injustice. If disfellowshipping is done away with, I wonder if people who walk away would be less inclined to see the need to come together for support. It stands to reason. JWs might just become like any other religion and former members would not need to feel so bitter. Apostate websites would decrease in number and intensity.
I
I would have to say i disagree with this for another reason. There are many on this website and others that have somehow achieved leaving without DFing. It does bind us, the fear, the manipulation of our lives to skirt around it... but it seems we've been able to divert it. Just being in this cult has binded us all together, and it seems like for forever. People have said they've been out 10, 20 years but STILL are on this site, avidly posting. That shows me that we'll be needing the support, and being able to support the "multitudes we can not even number" that will be coming OUT of the "truth".

Oommmmps,
You know we love you, and wish you the best. The other thing you have to think about is... Like we used to tell Lance, do you want to pull her out, kicking and screaming .. and THEN divorce her? Taking her out...BEFORE shes ready will leave her QUITE mad at you for ruining her life, taking her friends etc. I was VERY VERY angry at my husband when he "TOOK" me out. YES, he let me see 'the truth about the truth'... but at what price? there are many times i feel like i would rather have taken 'the blue pill' and been able to go back. Now, once I knew, i never went to another meeting, so then it just left me angry at him for taking everything i love away from me.
Just another point of view for you to ponder at 3AM. If its going to end, LET her be happy in her life.
You, of ALL people right now are very aware how much potential "time" we have left. Do you want to spend it tip-toeing around in turmoil? Or live your last years doing things you want to do before i have to take care of you in a nursing home? I dont see you as someone that really could live the next 5, 10 , 15years keeping your mouth SHUT and never expressing "bullshit". I dont see it for much longer honey. I'm sorry if thats not what you wanna hear. Sucks. But, make the suckage period short and least sucky for all involved.

Why do we care so much?........

OOMPS baby,
I think you're stuck in a pickle. Purgatory is a bitch! Being out mentally, but not being able to fullfill any of the "new life" stuff that comes with that.. .leaves you with... NEITHER. I think thats the problem. You cant be a witness, and you cant be worldly... welcome to the matrix!
You also care about your family and friends because you're NOT a worthless bastard!
Hows that for a compliment!
Love ya OOMPers!

Ugh. Makes me live thru it all again.
My husband always sucked in the truth, but him being so terrified to tell me, and telling me ... that conversation that he didn't believe it anymore.. i'll never forget.
I turned EXTREMELY self-righteous (suprise suprise) and in my "Defence" of the truth started investigating Russell on Wikipedia... then, in a few weeks, months.. i was down too.
You never know how it will turn out. I love that you are wanting to protect your son from the cult. This year now each of my kids (8 and 5) have had their first birthday parties, xmas... and guess what... NOONE was killed at the events!
Good luck. We're all here.
